Design Beyond The Classroom
To extend learning beyond the classroom, Year 11 Product Design and Technology (Soft Materials) students at St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School have been challenged to design and create a product that benefits someone in the wider community, supporting the development of practical skills, creativity and purposeful problem-solving.
Applying a range of textile techniques, Isabelle and Brianna developed a dog coat for Winnie, a therapy dog who provides comfort and support to a range of individuals, including students and elderly community members.
To ensure the coat was the perfect fit, Isabelle and Brianna created and tested a prototype on Winnie, refining the placement of Velcro fastenings and buttonholes to maximise comfort, functionality and ease of use, while building their confidence through real-world application.
