Young entrepreneurs give back

As part of St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School’s Traralgon Junior School’s new ConnectED Program, Year 3 students Memphis and Melissa turned a simple idea into a meaningful act of community service, raising $570 for the Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) Cancer Centre.

The girls organised a stall offering homemade cupcakes, slices and lemonade to members of the community, taking responsibility for the project from planning through to fundraising.

ConnectED is a practical, fortnightly homework initiative that encourages students to personalise their learning beyond the classroom by trying something for themselves. Activities might include preparing a meal, helping someone with a task, trying something new or taking on a practical responsibility at home or in the community.

For Memphis and Melissa, organising their fundraising stall provided an opportunity to develop independence, responsibility, planning and communication skills while contributing to an important local cause. Their efforts also demonstrated compassion and a willingness to make a difference in their community.

Raising $570 was a wonderful result and an achievement the girls can be very proud of.
