Harmony beyond the classroom
St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School’s Academy of Music students captivated audiences at this year’s Kammer Konzert, delivering an inspiring evening of chamber music that reflected not only their musical growth, but the confidence, collaboration and creativity developed through the Academy’s personalised learning approach.
Held annually, the Kammer Konzert brings together small ensembles from the Warragul and Traralgon Campuses, with students from Years 3 to 12 performing a diverse repertoire for families, peers and members of the wider community. This year’s program featured Mixed Septet, Piano Six Hands, Vocal Duo & Piano Quintet, Mixed Octet, Vocal Septet & Pianoforte, and Chamber Strings performances, showcasing the depth of talent and dedication across the Academy.
As part of the school’s co-curricular music, students are supported to personalise their musical learning by pursuing their love for music while working alongside expert educators and professional musicians. The specialised program provides students with opportunities to refine their technical skills, grow as performers and build important life skills such as resilience, teamwork and self-expression.
This year’s concert also featured a guest performance of ‘Aria’ from Aria et Rondo – Desenclos performed by Rebecca Scully on double bass and Chris Sim on pianoforte, giving students the opportunity to learn from experienced musicians and experience professional-level performance firsthand.
Beyond the music itself, the Kammer Konzert continues to play an important role in strengthening community connections, bringing together students, staff, families and music lovers in a shared celebration of learning and the arts.
Entry into the Academy is by audition, with successful students participating in a class-timetabled program designed to nurture both musical excellence and personal growth. To find out more, or to apply for the Academy, please contact Ben Sim on 5622 6358.
