St Paul’s equestrian students excel
Three students from St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School represented the school and Victoria at The Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.
This year the event attracted more than 2,000 school-based participants, family, friends and supporters from all around Australia. Competitors aged 5-18 years old had to qualify to compete at the nationals through the State Interschool Championships.
Tahlia competed in the Secondary 95cm Combined Training section, winning this event to become the Australian champion in this level. Tahlia was then also awarded a trophy for the best score by one combination out of all the secondary combined training classes. Kate placed 9th overall in the Secondary Show Jumping 100cm section. She finished 3rd in the special two phase, 9th in the two round phase and 11th in the speed phase class. Georgia competed in the Primary Show Jumping 60cm section. She was able to secure 7th place in the two phase section despite experiencing some difficulties in some phases.
A school equestrian team not only fosters student health and happiness via their passion for horse riding, but it also promotes a drive for achievement through the care and expertise of educators and increases participation in the community.
