Careers Year 10 Program

Students in Year 10 immerse themselves in a series of workshops and full-day activities to explore their skills, attributes and aspirations to support their subject selections and transition into VCE. One such workshop is with Arrive and Thrive, where students explore how they can design a career that has purpose and meaning. The students will understand the importance of values in this process and how to thrive regardless of what the future of work holds.

VDSS

Vocational Education and Training Delivered Directly to Schools (VDSS) is designed to lead further education, training or direct entry into the workshop of a particular job or vocational focus. Students are offered the opportunity to receive a nationally recognised Certificate or Statement of Attainment as part of their VCE. St Paul’s students can undertake a variety of internal and external VDSS to receive an early qualification for use within the industry.

Career Forums

Senior students benefit regularly from guest speakers and presentations by industry professionals sharing their expertise in their industry, experience in school and valuable advice on study, careers, pathways and life beyond school. From the Australian Defence Force to a Professional Soccer Player and from an Engineer to a Nurse, there is something to spark every learner's interest.

Work Experience

From Year 10, students are offered opportunities to undertake direct placement work experience, experiencing first-hand what it takes to be part of an organisation. Through a short-term placement, supported by our Careers team, students gain insight into work expectations, confidence, independence and skills to support their future beyond school.
